Hi There!
My name is Stefan Maric. I'm a Software Engineering Consultant from Venezuela, now based in Spain, and I help companies make better decisions about products, systems, and the engineering teams behind them. I'm also a loving husband, cooking aficionado, and squirrel lover 🐿️.
I started tinkering with computers around the time Windows Vista was released; Aero
pulled me into the world of bootleg builds, custom ISOs, and theming communities, where
I learned to move pixels in Photoshop and patch .dll files by hand. That led
me to odd jobs formatting computers, then to Linux-based recovery tools, and eventually into
the automotive manufacturing industry, where I worked as sysadmin and automation assistant
swapping backup tapes, tuning PLCs, and fixing printers.
With one foot in design and the other in infrastructure, web development was a natural next step, back when XAMPP stacks and jQuery plugins were all the rage. By 2011, I landed my first remote job at a SF startup after taking printed docs with me on a holiday trip so I could learn about the just-published Node.js v0.4 just well enough to crack the interview process. I've been working remotely with diverse companies and teams ever since.
What I do
I advise companies on how to build, scale, and manage their web and mobile products and the teams building them, with a focus on technical direction, product architecture, delivery risk, and engineering tradeoffs. I bring over a decade of experience in the JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem and the FinTech industry — from first commit to unicorn valuation, and everything in between.
